License Information for RTR's FrontPage Server Extensions 2002 for IIS 8.5, IIS 8 and IIS 7.5 The RTR FrontPage Server Extensions licenses are:
Before you purchase, please read the following detailed licensing information to be sure you pick the appropriate license. Licenses are upgradable, but your choice of a Hosted vs. Floating vs. Node-Locked license cannot be changed. Licenses are not refundable. For Floating and Node-Locked licenses you will need your HostId from your physical machine (you retrieved your HostId during the install procedure). For Hosted licenses you will need your RTR FPSE IIS server IP address Ready to get your license? Visit the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions Shopping Cart. License Details
Thus, the formulas to compute the license fee are:
Determining Your Site Count and Maximum Subwebs As mentioned above, the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions are licensed both per maximum sites and per maximum subwebs. Maximum Sites To determine your site count on a given machine perform the following steps:
Maximum Subwebs To determine your subweb count, open each site in FrontPage and count the subwebs. This number will apply as the maximum on all sites; every site must be licensed at this maximum number. Site Count and Subwebs Count Example Licensing Price Examples
License Changes and Upgrades You can reconfigure your license in any way, except the Hosted, Floating and Node-Locked license type may not be changed, as noted below . You can change the # Sites and # Subweb Groups to upgrade/reconfigure your license. For example, you could:
The steps to compute the fee for an upgrade is:
In other words, your upgrade fee is $5 more than any additional cost for your new license compared to your last license. Note: You could downgrade a license if you wish, but it will still cost you $5 and also the new lower license fee becomes your basis for future upgrades. Thus if you downgrade a license, it is in your interest to keep the basis license fee as close to the previous license fee as possible; you will lose the difference during any future upgrade requests. To request an upgrade, visit the same RTR FrontPage Server Extensions Shopping Cart you used to get your original license. When you enter the HostId (IP address for a Hosted license) for a previously issued license, the shopping cart will automatically switch to upgrade processing, show you details of your previous license, and calculate your upgrade price. Most license upgrades / reconfigurations are processed within a few minutes of completing your PayPal transaction, however, some upgrades can take up to 24 hours. Hosted vs. Floating vs. Node-Locked Licenses You can get three types of licenses for the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions, Hosted, Floating and Node-Locked : A Hosted License:
A Floating license:
A Node-Locked license:
At first glance the Node-Locked license seems simpler because it does not require the license server and thus seems it might be a better choice. However, the Node-Locked license is less flexible. It is permanently locked to a physical machine. It cannot be used on a virtual machine and cannot be transferred between one physical machine and another. Also, if you want to split the load of your web server by transferring some FrontPage webs to an additional IIS server, you will have to buy an additional license for the additional RTR FrontPage Server Extensions on the additional IIS server. The Floating license is more flexible. Though the Floating license is locked to a physical machine, the license server can share its licenses to other machines. So, if you move your IIS server with the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions from one machine to another, your existing Floating license would still work (as long as your license server is running). Or, if you want to split the FrontPage Webs from a machine to one or more additional machines and extend the new IIS server with the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions, then your existing Floating license would still work. The Hosted license is the most flexible. It may be used with either virtual or physical machines and the service includes the Primary and 2 Failover License servers. Note, however, that while the site licenses in a single Floating license can be parceled out, the site licenses cannot be shared. For example, if you have two servers running the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions, one with 10 sites and the other with 5 sites, your Floating license would need to have at least 15 sites. Hosted / Floating / Node-Locked Cannot Be Changed The upgrade process cannot change license types - your choice of Hosted, Floating or node locked license is permanent.
Thus, if you need to change license types, you must buy a new license. Failover License Information

License Additional Information Please note that the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions enforce the site count regularly and the subweb count less regularly. Very shortly after you exceed the maximum number of sites, when clients such as FrontPage, Expression Web, and Visual Studio try to use the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions they will receive a "no licenses available" error. However, if you exceed the number of subwebs, then the RTR FrontPage Server Extensions may seem to a work for a while but eventually they will report the "no licenses available" error. The above information should be sufficient to determine your license needs for most installations. If you have questions, or would like assistance in determining your needs, please contact us at . Be sure of what you order! RTR FrontPage Server Extensions licenses are not refundable. |
